Friedemann Slenczka | Viola, Germany
Friedemann Slenczka was born in 1994 in Göttingen, Germany, and started his first violin lessons at the age of 6. From the age of 11 to 14, Friedemann was not only a member of the boys choir Mainzer Domchor but also performed as a boy soloist soprano in opera performances at Staatstheater Mainz and Wiesbadener Staatsoper. At the age of 14, his family moved to Berlin and where he studied violin at the Julius Stern Institute, changing a year later to viola in the class of Jochen Greiner.
In 2010 he won the 1st Prize in the German youth competition „Jugend Musiziert“. From 2012-2019 he studied viola at UdK Berlin with Prof. Hartmut Rohde, where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree with top honours. From 2020-2021 he was a member of the Orchestra Academy of the Staatskapelle Berlin and since January 2022 he is the appointed first principal Violist of the BSOF Frankfurt (Oder).
Friedemann played repeatedly as soloist with the Baden-Baden Philharmonics. As a chamber musician he regularly performs in national and international festivals such as the Podium Festival Esslingen, Heidelberger Frühling, Beethoven Festival Bonn and the Kyoto International Chamber Music Festival. In various chamber music formations he regularly performs in halls such as Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Philharmonie and Konzerthaus Berlin, Mozarteum Salzburg and many others.
As a principal violist he gained experiences with numerous student orchestras such as PMF Festival Orchestra Japan, JNP Germany Orchestra, Eroica Ensemble Berlin. In 2020 he was invited as a principal violist to the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra in Norway.
He collected additional musical inspiration in numerous masterclasses with well known musicians such as Ivry Gitlis, Maxim Vengerov, Yuri Bashmet, Wilfried Strehle, the Artemis Quartet, and Reinhard Goebel.
